Emergency intervention needed!

May 31, 2019

Hvaldimir was very agitated early afternoon. While approaching him by boat, the team of care-takers realized that he had a fish-hook fastened in his left flank and that he was dragging 7 m of fishing line. Luckily, daily feeding and training sessions over the past couple of weeks enabled building a relationship and trust between the whale and the team. After some hours, the whale finally accepted to calm down and the team could remove the hook. This incident highlighted how important maintaining minimum medical training could be beneficial in promoting Hvaldimir's welfare overtime.
